X Inspired by a Medieval Gothic wedding ring, I worked to create an engagement piece that incorporated a pseudo-religious monument fundamental to Australian locals. Based on the Melbourne Cricket Ground stadium – Australian rugby or ’footy’ is an integral part of Melbourne’s psychological culture – the ring will unite any romantic couple, regardless of their team affiliation.

X I have a special captivation with souvenirs, especially for unintentional or anti-monuments – places that people treasure deeply, without their realizing it.  This brooch operates as a souvenir and field guide for Melbourne’s suburban retail masterwork, the Chadstone Shopping Centre. Etched into the brooch’s petals are the starred locations of ATMs, mapped over patterns of the mall’s floor plans. Designed as interchangeable parts, the series can be constantly rearranged.

X Many architects have been commissioned to bring together historical and contemporary buildings. And to do so, many have resorted to using simplified geometric forms – spheres, cubes, cones and their variations. Starting with vintage rings, I created a “design response” in white gold to their historical styles, resulting in removable frames that are wearable in their own right. In the final rags to riches transformation, I began with a humble, cubic zirconia solitaire and surrounded it with a halo tracing of Tolkowsky’s Ideal Cut for diamonds.
